Last night I went to bed with a head-ache. Usually they go away during the night but last night it got worse. So this morning when LoveBug woke up at 6:00, I felt like crap. I didn't want to get up, change her and feed her. I just wanted her to go back to sleep. It sounds bad I know but if you have little ones, don't tell me you haven't thought the same thing. After listening to her fuss for a couple minutes, I threw back the covers and.... that was it. Because Hubby put his hand on me and said the sentence I've been waiting for.... "I'll take care of the baby. You go back to sleep." I thought I heard angles singing in the back ground. I rolled back over, said "Thank you" to my husband and tried to go back to sleep. But the next thing he said shut those angels up real fast. "What do I do?" THERE IT IS!!! I knew it was to perfect.
I told him to change her, feed her and that The Wiggles DVD would entertain her for a bit. (Um... that's lie. It would entertain her for hours! Just hit repeat.) That's when I realized that all the bottles were in pieces in the dishwasher. Luckly they were clean.
Now let me stop here and point out that our agreement was that Hubby works outside the home and I get to be a stay-at-home mom. He brings home the bacon and I cook it. So to speak. I know it sounds a little 1950's-ish but it's what I wanted. And since I have that wonderful husband, he lets me do pretty much what I want. :-)
So back to my story..... Hubby gets up and walks right past the nursery to go down stairs. I know this because the baby monitor on my night stand does not lie. So I, again, throw back the covers and this time I get out of bed. I go to the nursery and pick up my little puffy eyed baby from her crib and give her a good morning hug. That's when he walks in and I pass her to him. As I'm giving him the instructions on how her bottles are put together, I realize it would just be easier for me to do it.
Fast forward a few minutes.... I leave my baby in the fairly capable hands of her daddy and I head back to bed. I nod off to sleep and wake up to the dog kicking me in the back about 3 hours later. THREE HOURS!!!! I got to sleep in!! I felt great! Except for the whole dog kicking thing....
And that is how my day started. I know it sounds like I bitched a lot but truth is... I got 3 HOURS to sleep in. Lucky for us, Hubby has a home office and works from home. So he wasn't late for work or anything. He just let me sleep. I love my husband more and more each day. But do mommies ever get sick days?
